PWAP is back for May!

We're planning a PWAP in May to benefit orphanages in Ethiopia!

Also, we're changing the format of our PWAP just a bit. We're going to open this up so that each month will have a new volunteer hostess. Each hostess will be in charge of planning the playgroup (at a park, your house, wherever!), collecting the donations (after picking the charity of course!) and delivering the donations. This is a great way to help one of your favorite causes! And, I'll still help with communication to families. If you're interested in being a PWAP hostess for a month, please let me know!

Two New Chapters!

Exciting news - two new chapters of Playgroup with a Purpose have been started! Jill started the Shenandoah Valley chapter and Jocelyn and Kerri have started the Tulsa Area chapter. Very exciting! Our goal in starting this was to see the idea expand, so we hope to see more PWAPs popping up around the country. If you're interested in starting one, please feel free to email me and I will help you get started!

Peanut Butter!

Last week, Playgroup with a Purpose collected 18 jars of peanut butter (including one extra-large jar!). Not a whole lot, but every little bit helps. When I met with Leslie from Amer-Haitian Bonzami, I learned that they had far surpassed their goal of 1,000 jars and had collected over 2,300! That's great news! Thanks to everyone who came to PWAP and donated!

We will be taking the month of November off as I try to figure out ways to make PWAP bigger and more successful. We'll be back in December and I will post details of our cause for that month and meeting in a few weeks, so be sure to check back!

October's Cause

For October, we will be collecting for Amer-Haitian Bon Zami's House of Hope. This organization is a "Non Profit Organization dedicated to easing suffering of Haiti’s impoverished children."

As many know, the recent hurricanes caused major devastation in Haiti and many orphanages were hit hard. We decided to respond to that need and help the AHBZ with their goal to collect 1,000 jars of peanut butter by October 9th. We will be collecting other items as well, but the focus is on the peanut butter. (See side bar for all donation information.)

September's PWAP

September's meeting of Playgroup with a Purpose was a big success! We had 5 families come and donate lots of great things to Our Little Haven! We were really impressed with one Mom - she told her personal trainer about our group and he went right to his wallet to give her money to buy donations!

Thanks to everyone who came and joined us - we will be sending the donations to Our Little Haven this week. We will also be picking our cause for October, so feel free to leave a suggestion for us!

Our first Playgroup meeting

We had our first playgroup meeting last week to benefit AHOPE. It was small, but we had a lot of fun! Hope to see more at our next meeting!
